Despite controversy surrounding AI chatbots in education, with concerns over plagiarism and students not doing their own work, billionaire Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has expressed his support of chatbots in education.

“…(within 18 months), the AIs will get to that ability, to be as good a tutor as any human ever could,” said Gates in his recent keynote talk at the ASU + GSV summit.

Gates is convinced that AI chatbots of the future will help young children learn to read, will be able to give faster, more accurate feedback on writing, and be a more affordable alternative to home tutors.
